My knee surgery

One year anniversary

I’m still going strong.

Today is the one-year anniversary of my total knee replacement surgery.  Looking back at my photos from that time and checking the dates of when the photos were taken, it is really amazing that I actually put on my winter boots and microspikes and went outside 7 days after the surgery and went out and shoveled snow nine days after the surgery.

Heard from Zach today

There is a drought in Kenya

Animals dying

These elephants in the photo are not dying. It is an image from a number of years ago and I selected it to accompany the haiku.

FYI, here’s his message.  You can use Google Translate:
Pole sana kwa theluji, hapa Kenya Kuna jua kali sana, njoto Iko juu sana na Kuna vumbi nyingi sana. Kumekaula sana wanyama wanakufa sababu ya njaa

I am in the midst of a two-day storm.  Maybe 15 inches.  Hard to tell.  It is very windy.  Power was out for about two hours.

Happy Valentine’s Day.

Moonlight x-c ski

Candles help light the way in

Luminous darkness.

There is a wonderful x-c ski track maintained on the local municipal golf course in Durango.  On Sunday night they had a fundraiser for the trail groomers and served drinks and food as well as lit luminarias around the course.  It was a fun time at the party in the club house and outside on the trails.
