Late this afternoon 

walked on very long legs

as sun warmed my back

Two black crows looking

Amid wind and cold and snow

Alone together.

Siskins and Finches

Hard to find food in winter.

Helping them survive.

This beautiful jay

Brightens my yard and my day

A stellar Steller’s.

Mountain Chickadee

It weighs less than half an ounce.

Tiny miracle.

They actually only weigh 0.39 OZ,  They are very active at my feeders.  Apparently, they will hide food and remember where it is hidden and go back and find their hidden caches at a later time..  Truly amazing creatures surviving in harsh winter conditions.


 

Can’t look out windows.

Must shovel snow away.

We’ve had over five feet of snow since 27 December and it is supposed to snow for the next two days.
