Climbing in Winter

the avalanche beacon sound

becomes my mantra

Another photo from my distant past.  We all wore avalanche transceivers so that if anyone got buried in an avalanche, hopefully, someone would be able to locate that person and dig him/her out quickly.  The only sound I could hear other than silence and my breathing was the faint beep of my transceiver.
