Posting this two years later. There is more snow and fewer elk. A sign of our times.
Yes, it is so wonderful to see them. It appears that part of the elk’s population decline is due to, sadly to say, increased outdoor recreationist throughout the whole year, including the winter where snowmachines and backcountry skiers are heading deeper into the mountains.
How beautiful they are! I hope there’s a balance found so they don’t lose more of their range.

Being in lockdown for two years didn’t help that. More people discovered the outdoors and how wonderful it is for lack of anything else to do.
